You probably know me as that guy from Dragons’ Den on a mission to make science awesome for 1 million children…
And that does consume most of my waking life but…
I’m also super-passionate about inspiring young people to tackle their own dreams.
I give some of my time to helping young people trying to get started. Sometimes that’s been through the Prince’s Trust, sometimes through the University of Nottingham and now through Young Enterprise.
As the name suggests Young Enterprise is all about helping young people to start their own business, movements, organisations and get out there and chase their dreams.
It’s an awesome cause. People with some experience and success give some time to help those just getting started. It’s the exact type of thing I wish there had been more of when I was starting out.
It’s a massive pleasure to be able to help out. Sharing a few ideas with Young Enterprise got me thinking about my own journey and how far things have come these past 7 years.
We’ve made science awesome for more than 500,000 kids! Never could have imagined when I was starting out with that £1,750 Prince’s Trust loan.
How about you? With all the hardwork and day to day “stuff” and that never-ending to-do list it can be easy to lose sight of what you have achieved. It’s probably a lot more than you think.
Just a thought I wanted to share. I’ll be back to the science next time.
Stay awesome of there!
