There’s never a bad time of year to make yourself a batch of slime but as Christmas is almost upon us let’s give our slime a festive twist. Enjoy your Starlight Slime!
What Do I Need?
- PVA glue (clear is best)
- Black food colouring or paint
- Glitter
- Cup
- Stick
- Borax (see note below)
How Do I Do It?
STEP1 - This experiment does require Borax. This is either available from your local pharmacy or online.
STEP2 - Pour some clear PVA glue into your cup until there is a 2 cm covering.
STEP3 - Add a teaspoon of water to your PVA glue and stir it in.
STEP4 - Add a dash of black food colouring and glitter to your glue and stir everything together.
STEP5 - Add around 5 table spoons of your borax to around 250 ml of water and stir well. Label it appropriately so no one drinks it.
STEP6 - Add one teaspoon of borax solution at a time and stir until you have the perfect batch of Starlight Slime.
What’s Going On?
How do you like your Starlight Slime? It’s both slimy and festive!
It gets even better though because while you were making your festive slime you were also doing your own chemical reaction.
Your PVA glue is a ‘polymer’ and when you mixed it with your borax a chemical reaction took place.
The long stringy molecules of your PVA glue tangled together turning your glue into goo.

To make sure there are no accidents never store this in anything you drink from and make sure to label it properly.
